Spring Break?

I couldn't believe it when I woke up Thursday morning to this....



The kids had this whole week off from school for spring break. Instead of soaking up the sun in our backyard or throwing catch with the boys, I stayed inside while the kids built a snowman and went sledding.
We had over 10 inches of the white stuff.
I think next year during spring break we will definitely head out of town for some sun and sand...

Flashlight Egg Hunt

This year for the Easter Egg Hunt we decided to change things up a bit. Instead of the usual egg hunt, we waited until dark and then had the kids search for their eggs with flashlights. What a riot!! With over 300 eggs and 5 flashlights the kids were screaming and laughing the whole time. Even the parents had their own scare...
All the adults were standing on Celeste's back deck at the same time and her deck caved in. I thought it was an earthquake at first. But it was just that one of the supporting beams had rotted. So funny!!! Good times!!

Favorite Talk of Conference

This conference was wonderful! I loved it all!! Usually there are only one or two speakers that truly touch my Spirit and inspire me to become a better person. But this conference I listened and embraced it all. Perhaps it is because I was open and ready to receive the word. Either way, I am grateful for the messages that were given.
My favorite talk was by Dieter Uchtdorf. During his talk he spoke of becoming true disciples of Christ. So often I become comfortable in being a spectator of anything and everything. But Uchtdorf encouraged us to get off the sidelines and practice what we preach. "Knowing the seed is not good enough. We must nourish it.." He also spoke of this life being a race of endurance, not a sprint. "Discipleship is a journey. We need the refining lessons of the journey to craft our character and purify our hearts."
May each of us start today wherever we are and move forward as true disciples of Christ with strength and courage...

Rocky's Birthday

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you!!! It is really true!!! Rocky got a bed for his birthday!!! AND... It's in the house!!!!! 4 years ago Rocky became a part of our family. There has never been a dull moment with him around. Over the past 4 years he has always been an outdoor dog because to bring him inside would be disastrous!!! But this week we decided to allow him to come inside for a little bit each day so that he will feel more like a part of the family. He is still an outside dog. But he can come inside and lay on his bed for a little while each day if he is good. Happy Birthday Rocky!!! We love you and are grateful that you a part of our family!!!
(Notice how he is not completely on the bed. Hmmmm??!!! Always pushing us to the limit. Seeing how much he can get away with. LOL :))

Wax Museum

This past week Carson finally got to participate in the Wax Museum at his school. Over the past several years he has watched as his older siblings get ready for the big event. This year it was his turn. He put a lot of time and energy into his project. He spent countless hours learning about Tiger Woods and putting together his poster board. He also worked hard at memorizing his paper for the presentation in class. But the hardest part of all was standing still with his head down for an hour during the wax museum. (He came home with a kink in his neck.:()

Carson's Belt Ceremony

Carson has been luvin' Karate. Last week we went to a ceremony where he received his orange belt.
Reasons why Carson enjoys Karate:
1. Gets to kick!!
2. Meets new friends at lessons.
3. Luvs the instructors. They're funny just like Carson.
Reasons why I'm glad Carson takes Karate:
1. He has to obey the 3 rules of Karate which are to 1.Obey your parents. 2.Keep your room clean. 3. Not fight with your siblings.
2. I luv the instructors because they are funny and a good influence on Carson.
3. Carson enjoys it!!
